"A beautiful girl who transfers to Shujin Academy the same spring as the protagonist. She's been a talented gymnast since middle school, and Shujin Academy holds high hopes for her because of her excellent athletic records."

Together with her sister Sumire, Kasumi has been a rhythmic gymnast since early childhood. Though it originally began as a sweetly childish wish to share their ice cream rewards together, the two of them swore to aim for internationals and share the top spot in the gymnastics world together. This dream was cut short a month before the sisters began their first year of high school, when Kasumi's younger sister was killed in a car accident.

Her true identity is actually the younger sister, Yoshizawa Sumire. Even before her sister's death, Sumire's wish had been to either become Kasumi or not exist at all; after it, unable to bear the guilt of knowing that her older sister shoved her out of the way of the car and was killed, a certain therapist studying cognitive psience was able to grant her heart's desire.
Through Maruki altering her cognition, Sumire believed herself to be her older sister Kasumi and began her school year under that delusion. Only Sumire's cognition was affected, so everyone in her life believes her to still be Sumire... except for the protagonist, who she introduced herself to as Kasumi and who returned a notebook to her labeled as "Kasumi's" and containing her photograph inside. This does not come to light until January if the conditions to unlock third semester have been met, when Maruki tries to use her past as part of his case for why the protagonist and Akechi should live in his rewritten reality.
In toplevels, journal information or otherwise, I will be referring to her as Kasumi to avoid spoilers for others. However, I'm more than happy to play her at any canonpoint as Sumire and will default to it with those I know are canon familiar or don't mind spoilers.
